What Attendees will Learn – Course and Workshop

   - Day 1 -

We discuss the realities of self-employment – the good and the bad. We also explore the disposition, motivation, attitude and risk tolerance of the attendees: “are you sure you want to do this?” We establish a mindset within the attendees of getting through tough times – as opposed to wallowing in them. We differentiate between a person “failing” and something not working as intended. After exploring the personal side, we begin delving into the various types and kinds of businesses. We introduce patents, trademarks, sales channels, branding, positioning, strategic alliances, etc.

 - Day 2-

We explore a few case studies and then go into great detail on bringing a product and/or idea to market – with the least possible risk – and greatest chance of success. In today's tough economic times, investment capital is hard to come by, so we explore alternative ways to bootstrap your new company-often with no outside investment!

-Day 3-

Again we use real world case studies. We use our own companies as examples, from inception to current status; along with other projects we've been involved in. We also determine how to identify the customer and many other  often overlooked marketing and business considerations that professors and corporate guys don't teach. The day finishes up by looking in detail at three actual case studies.

 - Day 4 -

We conduct a highly interactive workshop where we explore each attendee’s product or business idea and run it through our copyrighted marketing checklist: “SGS’s Marketing 101 – 104”. This high-energy forum will determine project viability and whether it is fundamentally worth pursuing to the next step... We all sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure confidentiality.
